FAQ
Who is hypnotherapy suitable for?
Hypnotherapy is suitable for many people. The key factors are trust, openness, and a willingness to actively engage with the process. How easily and deeply someone experiences hypnosis varies from person to person. During the free consultation, we’ll determine whether hypnosis and my approach are a good fit for you and your needs.
How effective is hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy has been scientifically studied and is recognized in various medical and therapeutic fields. It can be very effective because it draws on automatic responses and unconscious patterns that often occur outside of conscious control in everyday life.
Many of my clients report feeling a noticeable sense of relief after just the first session. How quickly and how significantly things change depends on the issue at hand and the individual’s personal response.
What kinds of issues can hypnosis help with?
Hypnosis can be used to help address many emotional, mental, and physical response patterns—such as anxiety, inner restlessness, stress, sleep problems, or harmful habits. We’ll determine whether hypnosis is right for your specific situation during a free consultation.
How does hypnosis feel?
Hypnosis is a pleasant state of physical relaxation and focused attention. You may be familiar with similar moments from daydreaming, reading, or just before falling asleep.
During the session, your body may feel heavy or light. You’ll remain responsive, aware of everything that’s happening, and in control at all times. How intensely you experience hypnosis varies from person to person—a specific sensation is not necessary for it to be effective.
How do I prepare for the hypnosis session, and how does it work?
It’s important that you genuinely want to make a change and are willing to commit to the process. Try to come well-rested, and make sure to eat and drink enough beforehand. During the session, you should be open to the experience and not under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances. Wearing comfortable clothing will also help you feel at ease.
Please set aside up to three hours for the first session. We’ll start with an in-depth conversation to discuss your situation, your concerns, and your goals, and to address any questions you may have. Afterward, I’ll explain how hypnosis works and what to expect during the session.
After that, I’ll guide you into a state of hypnosis. During this process, we’ll work on the unconscious reactions and patterns associated with your issue and reinforce new, more helpful responses.
The next two sessions will each last about 1 to 1.5 hours. We’ll discuss the changes you’ve experienced so far, delve deeper into the hypnotic work, and help you apply what you’ve learned to your daily life.
Do I lose control during hypnosis?
No. You remain in control at all times during hypnosis. You’re responsive, aware of what’s happening, and can stop the process at any time. The more you’re able to open up to hypnosis and let go, the more effectively we can address your specific concern.
So you're not giving up control—rather, the goal is to ultimately regain more control over your automatic reactions, feelings, and your life.
Does a hypnotherapist replace a doctor?
I would like to explicitly point out that hypnotherapy is not intended to—and cannot—replace a visit to the doctor. A hypnotherapist does not make diagnoses and is not authorized to prescribe medication to a client or to change the dosage.
Hypnosis can also be used in conjunction with conventional or complementary treatments.
